Hello Italian Betta lovers,

I'm a beginning Betta hobbyist from Finland, and I'm coming to Milano for a few days next week. Can you give me some pointers to finding Betta and aquarium-related things in Milano? Are there any nice Bettas available in fish shops? What are the best aquarium stores in Milano?

I heard there is a public aquarium in Milano. Is it worth visiting?

Brendan

Hi, I visited the public aquarium last week, well it's a small aquarium with all autochthonous fishes. Near Milano there is a good aquarium store, Acquarishop, try to Google it :)

the biuldin of the aquarium is interesting itself, absolutely liberty: " the third oldest aquarium in Europe.[1] Built in 1905 on the occasion of the Milan World's fair, It is the only surviving building from the event" [Wikipedia]

Thank you very much for your advice, Brendan and Fatacarabina! I will definitely go and see the public aquarium and will check out Acquarishop.

If anyone has any further tips I'm glad to hear more! Or if someone in Milano has some nice Bettas for sale, that would be super! :)

Hi Tive!
I wrote to one of our members who is from Milano to answer you here, i hope he'll do it soon :) Too bad you're going the next week, cause in the weekend of 23-24 may we're hosting our international IBC show in Ranco (VA), together with Acquarishop :)

Tive

Thank you Roberto!

I was really bummed when I learned you have a Betta show just two weeks after our visit. But we already booked our trip months ago, so I can't help that anymore. I would have loved to see the show! :)

Here in Finland we only have a few Betta hobbyists. We mainly buy our Bettas from pet stores, and most of the pet store Bettas are VT. I have found some HM bettas from pet stores, even quite nice ones, but usually they are too big and too old for breeding.

Hi Tive, I live in Milan, but I have no fishes at the moment. About good shops having show betta, I don't have any shops near, with good fishes. I know some shops have commercial CT (sometime), but all around Milan City,
If u are in Milan for Expo, try to eat some tradition Milan food like: cotoletta alla milanese (high beef chops), gorgonzola cheese, or Luini (Milan version of panzerotto). You can find Luini, next to Duomo church, on the left (Santa Redegonda street, after the cinema)

Hi Tive,
I found this aquarium shop in an italian Betta-related group, it should have some Bettas:

Also you might try these ones if you have some time:

Hope this can help! :)

Thank you very much DavideVD and Roberto! I'm sure I can find the time visit Mondo di Nemo and maybe some of the other shops! We're mainly coming to see the famous sights and enjoy the weather. Maybe some football and formula 1 (for my husband) and aquariums and Bettas (for me). We haven't decided if we'll go to Expo or not.

And thank you for the culinary tips DavideVD, I'm looking forward to Italian food. And coffee. And ice cream. :D

If you want to try the best italian food..i suggest south of Italy (now Davide is going to kill me, and he's big, i swear! :P ) ..but I'm sure you will have a great time in Milano with amazing food! :)
Have fun in Italy! :)

Tive

Thank you for your advice everybody. I'll come back after the trip and tell you if I had any luck Betta-wise. :)
